Phaidon does an excellent job with this series and the Michelangelo book is no exception. The 1st thing I always look for in an art book is superb photographs, ones that accurately capture the works of art in all of their detail and more importantly capture the colors of the paintings.

And this book definitely meets that criteria/5(7). Michelangelo, God's Architect: The Story of His Final Years and Greatest Masterpiece by William E. Wallace, Simon Callow, et al. Audible Audiobook. Editorial Reviews. In composing this addition to the Art and Ideas series, Michelangelo author Anthony Hughes intelligently and with a rare sense of humor details the genius's development in a career that spanned three-quarters of a century.

Not at all a collection of coffee-table books, this series is sized and designed to be : Phaidon Press. The book, marketed for children between 4 through 8, is based on an anecdote Mr.

In terms of concise readings of Michelangelo's major painting and sculpture, however, this is a good introduction. James Ackerman's book on Michelangelo's building career can helpfully supplement the architecture sections/5(3). With an engaging text by renowned Michelangelo scholar William E.

Wallace, Michelangelo: The Complete Sculpture, Painting, Architecture brings together in one exquisite volume the powerful sculptures, the awe-inspiring paintings, and the classical architectural works of one of the greatest artists of all time. Including everything from his sculptures Pietàs and David to his beautiful.

The souls of humans rise and descend to their fates, as judged by Christ who is surrounded by Artist: Michelangelo. Functionality and elegance define the Classic rooms of Starhotels Michelangelo, the 4 star hotel in the heart of Rome, near Castel Sant'Angelo and Vatican City.

The title of the book would seem indicate the focus of the book is HOW the Medici came to power and HOW The writing is well done and the subject matter, the Medici, SHOULD be interesting.

But the author seems to focus on the more trivial details of this family's life and times/5. The Starhotels Michelangelo makes sure its guests feel at home. The elegant rooms and suites, all recently renovated and offering every comfort, are furnished in a classical style, with prestigious red and ochre fabrics as a homage to the Eternal City.
